Recently, we received a message from a client who visited our Blushington NYC Flagship. Her experience moved us so deeply that we knew we had to share it—not just as a story, but as a reflection of everything Blushington stands for.
Before we share her words, we want to share ours.
It All Started with a Celebration
In 2010, we were getting ready for a milestone celebration—one of those big life moments where you want to feel your best. We needed professional hair and makeup for the occasion. But where would we go?

Hiring a freelancer meant spending hundreds of dollars per person—something that just wasn’t realistic.

A makeup counter felt impersonal and would require each of us to buy products we didn’t need and would never use.

And why couldn’t we mix and match beauty brands we loved?

Most of all—where was the place that truly cared about us as people, not just as appointments?
That place didn’t exist. So, we built it.
In October 2011, we opened the doors to Blushington West Hollywood, with a simple belief that still guides us today:
Every person—of every age, background, and beauty—deserves to feel confident and cared for.
Blushington was never just about makeup. It was about connection. Comfort. Belonging. A place where beauty goes beyond the chair.
Why We’re Sharing This
Fifteen years later, as we prepare to celebrate our anniversary next year, we received the letter below. It reminded us exactly why we do what we do. It reminded us that our mission has never been about trends. It’s about people.
With her permission, we are honored to share her story—exactly as she wrote it—because it moved us to tears and reaffirmed our purpose.
A Client Story That Reminded Us of Our Why
I’ve been fortunate to have many hair and makeup experiences for special occasions throughout my life. However, I wanted to reach out personally to share that my experience with Keyerra was, without question, the best I have ever had.
I scheduled with Blushington as I was officiating my best friend’s wedding that same day, an understandably meaningful occasion for me. From the moment we met, Keyerra went far beyond the polite small talk one might expect. She took the time to genuinely connect, listen, and offer words of authentic warmth and encouragement for my nerve-wracking day. Her gentle, grounded presence brought me a sense of calm and readiness I didn’t even realize I needed.
At one point, when the bride asked me to step away mid-appointment, Keyerra immediately and graciously reassured me that she was happy to wait, instinctively understanding how important it was for me to show up for my best friend. Her kindness and empathy in that moment left such an impression.
And of course, her artistry was nothing short of exceptional. I shared a few general ideas, and she somehow created a look that not only exceeded my expectations but also stayed true to my vision. Her work had me feeling confident (which is rare for me!) and truly radiant walking into one of the most special days of my life.
Keyerra is an extraordinary artist and an even more extraordinary person. Her warmth, skill, and intuition transformed what could have been a stressful afternoon into a meaningful and centering experience. I wanted to be sure that her impact did not go unnoticed — a simple Google review didn’t feel sufficient to capture the gratitude I feel.
