As we count down to our 15th birthday next month, we wanted to start with a partner who has been with us for over a decade. We kicked off our birthday celebrations surrounded by our friends at Best Buddies, and if you had asked us fifteen years ago where this journey would lead, a room full of laughter, familiar faces, and a decade of friendship might not have been the first thing we pictured — but it is exactly where we hoped to land.
Where It All Started
Blushington began in 2011 on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, as a small studio built around one simple idea: professional beauty should not be reserved for a select few. What started as an affordable makeup application studio grew, appointment by appointment, into the blowouts, skincare, and beauty lounges we know today. Along the way, we learned that the appointments themselves were never really the point. The point was always the people — the clients who became regulars, the Pro Artists who became family, and the partners who stuck with us through every chapter, including the ones that were not easy.
Best Buddies is one of those partners. Over ten years in, the relationship has outlasted trends, outlasted openings and closings, and outlasted more than one version of what Blushington looked like as a company. That kind of staying power is not something you plan for. It is something you earn, together, one year at a time.
A Decade-Long Friendship
Fifteen years of Blushington is fifteen years of lounges, blowouts, and beauty appointments — but more than that, it is fifteen years of relationships. Long before the countdown to this milestone began, Best Buddies was already part of the Blushington story, and it felt only right to open our celebrations with them.
There is a particular kind of warmth that comes from celebrating with people who knew you before you became who you are now. Best Buddies has been in the room for a lot of Blushington's growth, and having them there to kick off this milestone felt less like an event on a calendar and more like a reunion.
Beauty for All
At Blushington, beauty for all is not a tagline — it is the standard we hold every lounge to, from our first location on the Sunset Strip to every Blushington that has opened since. Best Buddies' mission — creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities — reflects the same spirit of inclusion that has shaped Blushington from day one.
We have always believed that a good beauty experience should not depend on who you are or where you come from. It should simply be available, welcoming, and the same for everyone who walks through the door. Spending an afternoon with an organization that lives that same belief out loud, in everything they do, was a reminder of why that value has stayed at the center of Blushington for fifteen years and counting.
What the Day Felt Like
The best celebrations are rarely about the details on a run-of-show. They are about the moments in between — a familiar face walking in, an old story being retold, a room slowly filling with people who genuinely wanted to be there. That is what this felt like. Less a kickoff event, more an afternoon spent with people who have watched Blushington grow up.
There was an ease to the whole thing, the kind that only comes from a relationship with real history behind it. No one needed an introduction. No one needed convincing about why this partnership mattered. Everyone in the room already knew.
A Celebration Fifteen Years in the Making
This event was more than a party. It was a reminder of why community sits at the center of everything Blushington does, whether that is a client settling into the lounge for a blowout and a BeautyRx Peel, or a longtime partner joining us to celebrate a milestone.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful host, Crystal Stewart, for welcoming us with open arms, and to our Pro Artists for showing up with their whole hearts and giving their time so generously. None of what makes Blushington feel like Blushington happens without people who show up fully, again and again, and this day was full of exactly that kind of generosity.
Fifteen Years, and Still Just Getting Started
Fifteen years in, it would be easy to spend this celebration looking backward. Instead, this felt like the right way to look forward — by starting with gratitude, for the people and the partners who made it possible to get here at all.
This is only the first stop on the road to Blushington's 15th birthday. Follow along as we continue to celebrate the partners, Pro Artists, and clients who have made a decade and a half possible, one lounge, one appointment, and one friendship at a time.
